Artist Statement: This Britney Spears animation is made up of 524 handmade drawings using the technique of rotoscoping. Each cell is traced in colored pencil, digitally scanned, and played back in the same order, creating an animated version of the original video. Filmed against a screen in her home, and posted to Instagram in June of 2020, the video offers an intimate glimpse into Spears’ personal life during the pandemic. She wishes her fans a happy Pride Month, and thanks the LGBTQ community for all their support over the years. The animated version is a meditation and commemoration of Spears’s appreciation for her LGBTQ fans. The animation is an official selection for Feminist Border Arts Film Festival.
